On September 29, Microsoft Research, together with Harvard University and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, launched Project Quine, an experimental multimodal AI research system for biology. It provides a joint representation "world model" covering genomics, proteins, chemistry, cellular states, and biological imaging. Microsoft also opened applications for the inaugural Quine Fellows program and plans to expand commercial access through Microsoft Discovery.
